Junior Plus Camps

Over the years the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club has hosted many junior clinics and camps. One of the most popular has been the "Junior Plus Camp" usually run in the first week of summer holidays. The camp is geared towards juniors that have played some golf, and who look to improve their skills, while at the same time meeting other players of their caliber that they can play and compete with. The camp is run by CPGA Professionals and apprentices who spend two hours each day on all the fundamentals of the game....full swing, short game, putting, sand play...and more. At lunch break the time is used to go over the rules and etiquette of the game. After lunch, the kids are paired up with partners and put into foursomes to go out and play 18 hles of golf. The formats of play vary every day so as each learns different ways that the game may be played. The cost of this 5 Day camp including all lessons, range use and 18 holes each day is only $120.00 plus GST. Junior Clinics

In mid May, each season we here at the Smiths Falls G & CC hold a six week junior golf clinic for three different age groups. These are introductory lessons for the young future stars of the sport. Held every Saturday for 6 weeks beginning May 22, with the 4-7 year old group at 9:00 am, 8-11 year old's at 10:00 am and the 12-17 year old"s at 11:00 am. Each session is 45 minutes long  and will cover a different facet of the game each week. The final Saturday is actually a golf day whereby the parents caddy for the juniors out on the course for as many holes as the kids can play in a two hour time limit. Following is a barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks served up by yours truly.

Group sizes are limited to 24 kids, so sign up soon. Helping Paul with these programs are Professional Golf Management students Lucas Fisher, Tyeler Vaillancourt and Travis Smith. These three will surely bring fresh new teaching ideas to the program as all three are currently enrolled in Collage Golf Programs in PEI and Ontario.
