In 1952 an influential group of citizens came together with a united goal to build a golf course in the Smiths Falls area. Their diligent efforts and risk taking resulted in the creation of a nine-hole course in 1954. The course was constructed on a one hundred acre parcel of land known as the "Rose Farm" that had been purchased from the Balfe family. Gentle sloping fields astride the flowing waters of Otter Creek characterized the property.

The old farmhouse was structurally sound and was turned into the Clubhouse. The first decade of the course saw many course improvements, an addition to the clubhouse, a new watering system, a new Pro Shop and the purchase of some additional land for future development.

The next fifteen years can best be described as a time of status quo for the golf club. The Club gently grew and matured.

The Clubhouse Today

In the early 80's the march to expansion began culminating with the opening of the re-designed 18-hole golf course in the spring of 1988. The Club was moving forward. In 1991 a new Pro Shop was constructed and a totally renovated and expanded Clubhouse opened in 1999.

Throughout this time the emphasis has always been, and continues to be, on maintaining and improving the golf course itself. From tree planting to construction of new greens, from clearing brush to creating new and interesting hazards, from maintaining the fairways to developing cart paths, the process of working on one of Eastern Ontario's finest and most affordable courses never ends.

We have come a long way in fifty years!

Who knows what the next fifty will bring.
